Signature western-canal stop immediately above Neptune’s Staircase. Banavie combines formal long-term moorings, excellent facilities, rail/bus access and one of the route’s defining engineering landmarks.
Banavie moorings provide parking, showers/toilets, refuse, laundry, 16A electricity, Elsan, water and pump-out. Annual/summer/winter rates are published. Neptune’s Staircase is eight locks raising the canal 19m and Scottish Canals says it takes around 90 minutes to transit. Banavie rail station is close. Current 2026 guidance also notes swing-bridge restrictions and a West District mobile lock-keeping rota that may cause delays.
